Market Technicians are responsible for analyzing financial markets using technical analysis techniques, including chart patterns, price action, and technical indicators, to support trading and investment decisions. They are proficient in the use of technical analysis tools, software, and data visualization to provide actionable insights to traders, portfolio managers, and senior management.

Technical Analysis of Financial Markets

• Perform technical analysis on various financial instruments, including equities, commodities, foreign exchange (forex), and cryptocurrencies.
• Use charting software and technical indicators (e.
g., moving averages, RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands) to identify market trends, support and resistance levels, and trading signals.
• Develop and monitor technical analysis strategies and models to predict market movements and identify potential trading opportunities.
• Analyze historical price data and volume patterns to recognize price trends and market cycles.
• Identify and analyze chart patterns such as head and shoulders, double tops, triangles, and flags to forecast market behavior.

Market Research and Strategy Development

• Conduct in-depth market research to identify macroeconomic and microeconomic factors that may influence market prices.
• Collaborate with traders and portfolio managers to develop technical trading strategies tailored to specific asset classes or market conditions.
• Support the development of systematic trading strategies based on technical analysis principles and quantitative data.
• Continuously monitor financial markets, adjusting technical analysis approaches as needed based on evolving market conditions.

Risk Management and Portfolio Support

• Provide technical analysis support to risk management teams by identifying market risks, price volatility, and potential downturns.
• Work with the trading team to develop stop-loss, take-profit, and position-sizing strategies based on technical setups.
• Assist in identifying the risk/reward ratio for trades and ensure that technical analysis strategies align with overall portfolio risk management practices.
• Monitor ongoing market conditions and provide updates on significant price movements or technical breakouts that may affect client portfolios.

Charting and Data Visualization

• Create and maintain technical charts and visualizations to communicate market trends and technical patterns to stakeholders.
• Develop and update custom technical analysis reports and dashboards that summarize key findings and market forecasts.
• Use advanced charting software (e.
g., TradingView, MetaTrader, NinjaTrader) to generate actionable insights and trading signals.
• Present market insights and technical analysis to traders, portfolio managers, and senior leadership in a clear and concise format.

Market Trend Monitoring and Reporting

• Monitor real-time price action in global financial markets, identifying important shifts in trends, volatility, or key market events.
• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports on technical indicators, market trends, and trading opportunities to traders and management teams.
• Create actionable trading signals based on real-time analysis of market data, ensuring timely execution of trades.

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with the trading desk and research team to support day-to-day trading activities and long-term investment strategies.
• Provide insights on market conditions and trading opportunities, contributing to the development of short-term and long-term trading plans.
• Work closely with portfolio managers to ensure technical analysis aligns with broader investment strategies.
• Provide training and support to junior technicians and other team members regarding technical analysis methods and tools.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in technical analysis tools and charting software (e.
g., TradingView, MetaTrader, NinjaTrader, ThinkOrSwim).
• Strong command of technical indicators, oscillators, moving averages, and chart patterns.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, including advanced formulas, macros, and financial modeling.
