Job Summary
Day Traders have a strong understanding of technical analysis, market indicators, and charting, as well as experience in high-volume trading environments. It requires a disciplined individual with excellent analytical skills, quick decision-making abilities, and a keen eye for identifying profitable trading opportunities in real-time. Day Traders execute rapid buy and sell orders within the same trading day, leveraging short-term price movements to maximize profitability while managing risk effectively.
Trading & Execution
- Actively trade stocks and other financial instruments during market hours with a focus on high-frequency and short-term strategies.
- Execute buy and sell orders in real time, closely monitoring price fluctuations, volume, and liquidity.
- Utilize multiple trading platforms and tools to make quick, informed trading decisions and manage positions.
Market Analysis & Research
- Conduct technical analysis using indicators like moving averages, MACD, RSI, volume trends, and candlestick patterns to identify potential entry and exit points.
- Keep up-to-date on global economic events, company earnings announcements, and other factors that impact intraday price movements.
- Develop and maintain trading strategies based on backtesting and analysis of historical price data.
Risk Management
- Set and adjust stop-loss orders to minimize potential losses, ensuring risk exposure is consistent with the company’s trading guidelines.
- Regularly review and assess trading performance, identifying trends and refining strategies to improve risk-adjusted returns.
- Monitor portfolio exposure to ensure compliance with daily risk limits, including maximum position sizes, exposure limits, and loss thresholds.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Document and track all trading activities, including entry and exit points, reasons for each trade, and profitability analysis.
- Analyze daily trading performance to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Prepare daily and weekly performance reports for review with the trading manager, highlighting successful strategies and noting areas for development.
Strategy Development & Optimization
- Develop and refine trading strategies based on market behavior, price action, and new information.
- Conduct ongoing backtesting of strategies to ensure they are robust under different market conditions.
- Collaborate with other traders and team members to share insights, discuss trends, and refine trading techniques.
Real-Time Monitoring
- Continuously monitor multiple screens and market data to stay informed of price movements, news events, and other market indicators.
- Act quickly and effectively on breaking news or sudden market changes that could impact open positions.
- Adapt trading strategy in response to changing market conditions, volatility, or unexpected news.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of technical analysis, including proficiency with technical indicators, chart patterns, and trend analysis.
- Proficiency in trading software, charting tools, and Excel (experience with macros and data analysis is a plus).
- Familiarity with algorithmic or automated trading strategies is a plus.
Analytical & Decision-Making Skills
- Excellent analytical abilities with a focus on detail and accuracy.
- Ability to make rapid decisions under pressure, based on changing market conditions and real-time data.
